Every business has a story — ours began with a young man, a bicycle, and a strong work ethic.
Steve Stoltzfus grew up in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, one of seven brothers in a hardworking family. At just eighteen years old, he began biking three miles each day to work at Stoltzfus Enterprise, where his passion for welding and fabrication first took shape. There, he repaired farm equipment for local farmers and quickly gained a reputation for quality, precision, and reliability.
As Steve’s skills grew, so did his opportunities. He began repairing trash trucks and dumpsters, serving waste haulers throughout the community. One snowy morning, a local hauler stopped by the shop and mentioned needing a few new 20-yard dumpsters by spring. Steve accepted the challenge. Using an old dumpster as a reference, he began building his own — and before long, they were producing one roll-off container per day.
That early success planted the seed for what would later become Stone Valley Container.
When Steve and his family moved to Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, to help with a new church outreach, he carried his welding expertise with him and launched Stone Valley Welding in 1995. What started as a young man in a small repair shop soon grew into a trusted manufacturer of durable roll-off containers, known for their superior craftsmanship and lasting performance. Over time, the company’s name evolved to Stone Valley Container, reflecting its growing role as a full-scale manufacturer serving customers across the country.
Today, Stone Valley Container stands out in the industry for building containers that are stronger, heavier, and more durable than most — using thicker steel, reinforced welds, and expert design to extend service life and reliability. The company also operates its own fleet of trucks, allowing for economical, nationwide delivery, with many of its containers serving customers throughout the eastern United States.
